Here are some photos I shot of my 2011 Jaguar XF Portfolio the other day at sunset. I have owned it now for 5 years from Birchwood Jaguar in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
The driving experience in the car is amazing. It feels like you are floating and the steering is very responsive.
It has a 6 speed automatic gear box and has a 470 HP 5 Litre V8 Supercharged Engine under the bonnet, it can do 0-60 in 4.90 seconds, with a top speed of 155 mph.
I call it Cyril after my wife’s British Grandfather.
The colour is Onyx, which is a very deep, dark grey with flecks of silver in it.
We will be doing some very interesting travel features and experiences with this car once the Covid Crisis is over, so come back often and check out my Wear It Like Bond site.
We will be developing some YouTube content around this car and other Ultimate Guy Experiences in the future.
The ownership experience has been great so far, although I would suggest buying an extended warranty if you can. You never know how the previous owner drove or looked after it, even if you get all of the maintenance history, which I did.
The extended warranty cost me about 4600, which is a lot, but an engine overhaul on this car would be over 15.000, closer to 20,000. Turns out having the warranty was a good idea. In the first year and a half of ownership, I had over 12,000 of repairs that were needed, all to do with the engine, lights, and battery.
When these cars come off warranty, they can be expensive to maintain, so some owners would neglect to do the required maintenance, or scheduled maintenance required to maintain the vehicle. So they end up selling it and letting the new owner look after the issues.
The dealership that I bought the car from was good to deal with, but the salesman was not completely honest with me when I asked if there was any outstanding scheduled maintenance required or any issues that I need to be aware of.
He promised me that there was nothing wrong with the car, and in under a week later I was back having some issues looked after, all under warranty mind you, but was not really impressed with his sales tactic or hiding the truth.
The maintenance staff told me what to expect and the history behind the car as it was one they had always worked on and was bought brand new there.
So thankfully I had the extended warranty that would protect me from a less than honest car salesman.
Even though the car salesman at the dealership was less than honest and was only looking at making a short term sale (I would never refer him to anyone), I am still beyond happy with my car.
Once all the issues were sorted out, it became a proper GT Car. One of the finest cars I have ever had the pleasure to drive, and plan on very very long term ownership of it.
Someday, perhaps, my son will have this car. As long as you are up on any scheduled repair, these cars are amazing to own and drive.
I am looking forward to adding another one in my garage someday.
